Community Meetings

Since the Feasibility Study began, the project team has prioritized community engagement and transparency. To date, the Town and School District have hosted three public meetings, including an Educational Visioning session focused on future learning goals and priorities. Two of these meetings included guided tours of the existing school, giving residents the opportunity to better understand current building conditions and the needs driving the project. June 4, 2026, Community Meeting & Mosier Tour 

The South Hadley Elementary School Building Committee hosted their 3rd Community Forum on June 4, 2026, to share project updates and gather questions and feedback from the community. The meeting included a tour of the existing Mosier Elementary School, followed by a presentation.  The presentation reviewed the project’s status progressing from the feasibility study into the design phase, with completion anticipated in 2030. The preferred option includes construction of a new school at the Mosier site, featuring modern, flexible learning spaces, improved accessibility, enhanced traffic flow, and expanded opportunities for preschool, special education, and community use. The project is expected to receive significant financial support through the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA), with final funding details to be refined as the design progresses and subject to community approval through a future debt exclusion vote. Planning is also underway for temporary student relocation during construction and continued community engagement to support the project's next phases.

February 5, 2026, Community Meeting Recap

The South Hadley Elementary School Building Committee hosted a Community Meeting on February 5, 2026 to share project updates and gather questions and feedback from the community. The meeting included a tour of the existing Mosier Elementary School, followed by a presentation covering the project’s partnership with the Massachusetts School Building Authority, the educational vision guiding the work, existing building conditions, preliminary design options under consideration, and associated cost ranges.

Approximately 10 community members attended in person, with an additional 5 participants joining virtually via Zoom. Please check back for the full recap summary and survey results from the meeting.

The meeting included a tour of the existing Mosier Elementary School, followed by a presentation reviewing the project’s partnership with the Massachusetts School Building Authority, the educational vision guiding the work, existing building conditions, and preliminary design options under consideration.

Approximately 40 community members attended in person, with an additional 15 participating virtually via Zoom.
