English As A Second Language
The ESL classes focus on the areas of Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening. During our in-depth word study workshop, we will build our vocabulary, grammar, and spelling skills. Students will be reading books that are “just right” for them throughout the year. There will be hard copy and digital options, too. Students will read a variety of texts to analyze, write, think, and speak about books. Also, these books can help when writing a narrative, persuasive essay, research project, and poetry. Technology is integrated into the lessons to support students’ learning. The class is designed to support, talk, and share with each other as a curious community of learners while building English proficiency.
