Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Saloio, M.Ed.
Greetings! Thanks for visiting my Special Education website. My name is Sherry Saloio and I teach Academic Tutoring. I graduated from Westfield State in 1992, and I hold a Master's Degree in Special Education grades 5-12. I have a total of 15 years teaching experience, because I took time off when my children were little. I am excited about having the opportunity to work with your child in Academic Tutoring.
Academic Tutoring is a course designed to help students develop self-determination and executive functioning skills. Students will learn goal setting, cognitive flexibility, organizing and prioritizing, and self- monitoring. The course is divided into a 15-minute skills session and a 45-minute work period. The skills taught at the beginning of class will help your child to complete course assignments. Students are expected to bring academic work from their other classes to work on after the 15-minute skills session. It is expected that students bring work that they have the most challenge with, and utilize teacher assistance in completing the work.
Grading: 80% assessment (Daily check sheets and Units of study)
20% Practice (Grade check and E-mailing teachers)
I look forward to working with your children, and I am confident that it will be a great year!
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS A TAB AT THE LEFT MARKED DISTANCE LEARNING. THIS IS WHERE YOU CAN ACCESS OUR GOOGLE CLASSROOM CODE TO JOIN SO THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT CLASS ASSIGNMENTS.
