From the Principal

  • Hello South Hadley High School Students,

By now you may have heard that we will be out of school for at least 3 weeks - through April 6th.  I will try to keep you updated as I learn things - please email me if you have questions and I will try to answer them the best I can.

The next few weeks will be unlike anything any of us have experienced. For a bit, you might be glad to be out of school for a few days or even a week.  But over time, this will seem different, and the response to lessen the impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) will probably impact your life directly. This definitely will not be summer vacation in March.  So - what can you do during these unusual times? Here are my recommendations for you as you are out of school for 3 weeks:

Get Outside - Take a walk. Go for a run. Go on a hike.  Make sure you work activity into every day.

Read - Find something you are interested in and read up on it, go deeper on an area that you think you might be interested in pursuing after High School. You have the time to develop your passion, use it to your advantage. Just make sure you read each day - it will keep your brain active!

Write - This is an unprecedented time in American History.  You will tell your kids about this time in your life, historians will write books about it, there will be movies made about it. Take a few minutes each day and write down your thoughts. Take some pictures. Record your thoughts - either on video or audio.  You will be glad you did - trust me.

Watch - I know you are going to catch up on shows, and that is completely fine, but try to watch the news each day. You should be aware of what is happening. One of the most important jobs we have as a school is to make sure you are each active and informed citizens.

Remember, check your teacher websites for suggested activities. Websites will all be updated by Wednesday.

Be safe, be smart, and be kind to the people in your lives.  I look forward to seeing you all back in school soon. Please don’t hesitate to email with any questions.

    Ms. Wood
