• Welcome to 7th Grade Ancient Civilizations with Ms. Di Silvio!

Ms. Di Silvio and her family
  • Roots of the Western World

In 7th grade social studies, we will begin the year by reviewing what we have learned in world geography.  The main focus of our class, however, will be ancient civilizations.  Students will learn what civilizations are and what life was like before they arose.  Included in our study will be parts of Africa, Mesopotamia, Greece and Rome.   Our enduring understanding for this course is the ancient world’s legacy today.  Students will be introduced to document based questions in which the goal is to analyze and evaluate primary source documents, and then use these documents, along with outside information, to write expository essays.  In addition to covering history standards, a main component of this course will be enhancing critical reading skills, constructing logical inferences, and communicating well in writing.
