Suggestions for your Child's Success
Stay-Tuned: Ask your child what he or she is studying, and look in the homework folder every night. The homework folder is where you will find the newsletters and notes that are sent home, as well as any homework that needs to be completed. Our monthly newsletter will help you keep up with important happenings in our classrooms. We will also send home notes, make phone calls, or email you if we have any concerns about your child's progress. Reading the weekly Reflection Sheets, which is explained below, is also a valuable way for us to communicate on a regular basis.
Reflection Sheets: Your child's weekly schoolwork will be sent home on Fridays. Schoolwork which we feel is important to save will be kept in school. Stapled to the first paper will be a “Weekly Reflection Sheet” that discusses areas your child is proud of (from the past week) and goals for the upcoming week. Parents are asked to review the attached work with the child and sign the paper. The student will return just the Reflection Sheet to school on Monday. These reflections are a valuable way of keeping you informed on a weekly basis.
Ask Questions: If you have any questions or concerns, then please feel free to call or email us at any time. We welcome all concerns, ideas, and feedback that affect your child and/or our classes. If something is not working, we are more than willing to talk.
Homework: You should expect that your child will have homework everyday, Monday through Friday. You will always find the homework assignments written in the homework planner, which is kept in the homework folder. It will go home everyday. We encourage you to set up with your child a scheduled time for homework each day. Students should be able to do most assignments independently, but please help if it is necessary. If you notice that your child is not able to do an assignment on his or her own, please send in a note. We will contact you if your child is falling behind or turning in poor work.
Snack: All students may bring a snack and water bottle to school everyday.
